Olivier Saillard

Olivier Saillard’s face was solemn, as befits the new curator of the
Palais Galliera fashion museum. But his show, “Morceaux Choisis,” or
“chosen pieces,” was a hoot. Using his deep historical knowledge in a
way that was as light as his creations in cotton toile, Mr. Saillard
...created elements from different decades that were placed on a
body-suited figure, who then announced the origin of each piece.
This witty dialogue linked abstracted 1980s shoulders from Thierry
Mugler with other pieces and identified Jeremy Scott’s or Yohji
Yamamoto’s style. It was all an insider escapade for fashion
aficionados, who laughed and smiled through the sober presentation. But
the biggest joke of all was that the fusion of this cut-up couture
looked pretty good. S.M Herald Tribune 07 10 2010
