En 1982, Miuccia Prada lance une première collection de chaussures pour femme. En 1988, elle ajoute le prêt-à-porter féminin aux activités de la marque. Dans les années 90, Marc Audibet, un talentueux couturier et créateur de mode ayant fait ses débuts chez Ungaro et Cerrutti, collabore avec Miuccia Prada en tant que directeur artistique de la griffe (1991-1996). Par son travail, il participe alors largement au positionnement de Prada comme marque leader dans le domaine du luxe et contribue à sa renommée sur la scène-mode
